Q: What do you mean by "coaching"
A: We talk, a lot! As we go through your space, we guide you through the process of letting go and understanding that stuff is just stuff, and sometimes it's OK to let things go. Each process is totally individualized, but they all revolve around the same concept : learn to let go of the things that are consuming you and not serving you well. We just give you permission to do that! Everyone has different reasons they hold onto things; our job is to help you identify those things and work through them!
Q: What is the difference between decluttering and minimizing?
A: Not much! Sometimes people get afraid of the word "minimize" or "minimalism," but really it is just the concept of holding onto the essentials and releasing the rest.
Q: Will I have to throw away all of my stuff?
A: Absolutely not! We just help you figure out what needs to stay and what needs to go! You have full permission to do whatever serves you the best. With a little help though, sometimes we realize that we keep things purely out of fear, shame, or guilt. Those are the things we let go of!
Q: Do you take the donated items for me?
A: Yes! We will do this for you after each session!
Q: Should I have my spouse/partner/kids involved ?
A: We don't recommend having others involved in the first visit. We won't ever go through someone else's stuff other than yours, however. This is because the coaching is incredibly individualized and you need to be focused on YOUR goals and taking it all in. We believe the best change occurs through example. If you're dying to have your kids or spouse join the declutter bandwagon, then show them the benefits! Bringing a spouse or your kids through the process after the first visit is totally OK if that is one of your goals!
Q: Should I clean my home before you come?
A: Nope! Please don't go hide any clutter or mess elsewhere! The goal is to see the space as it is so we can truly identify where we need to start and what the process will be!
Q: Is essential haus an organizing company?
A. Not really, but it is a very happy side effect of the decluttering process. Organization happens very easily and organically once you FIRST clear the excess. The spaces we work on ALWAYS end up incredibly organized with super simple systems to keep them that way, but it is always an easy result of the work you put in during the sessions of decluttering.
Q: Do you buy organizing bins/baskets for me?
A. You likely already have everything you need! After we've helped you minimize your "stuff," we will help you decide what systems and organizational tools will work best for you. We do this through providing a shopping list if necessary.
Q: Can we do my whole house?
A. If you want! The tools you'll learn in the first few sessions are easily translated into all areas of your home, but sister, I know you're busy. We'd be happy to help you out in as many parts of your home as you'd like. You can do this through purchasing "mini sessions."
Q: How long are the sessions?
Plan for 4 hours each! After we have worked together, you have the option to pursue an hourly booking style.
Q: Do i need to be present for the sessions ?
Yes! Lucky you! This is a learning process for you, therefore we need you there friend!
